Location: HART- 15494 Dellwood Drive Brainerd, MN 56401
Schedule: Part-time/rotating weekends/some holidays. This includes Sunday & Mondays 8am-2pm, Tuesday-Saturday 8am-4pm.
Pay: Starting pay $13.25/hour with a 90-day performance review and potential for a pay increase at that time. Then cost of living raises yearly.
About the Role:

We are looking for a compassionate, dependable Kennel Assistant to help care for animals in our shelter. This role is hands-on, fast-paced, and incredibly rewarding for someone who loves animals and wants to make a difference every day.
Responsibilities:
- Clean and sanitize kennels, dishes and animal areas
- Feed and provide fresh water to animals according to schedules and protocols
- Assist with animal handling, walking, and enrichment
- Monitor animal health and behavior, reporting concerns to management
- Support daily shelter operations and help maintain a safe, welcoming environment
- Interact kindly with volunteers, staff and public
Qualifications:
- Love for animals and commitment to their care and wellbeing
- Ability to perform physical tasks (standing, bending, lifting up to 50 pounds)
- Comfortable working around animals of all sized and temperaments
- Reliable, punctual, and team-oriented
- Willingness to learn (animal care experience is a plus, but not required)
