Operating and Maintaining Dump Trucks:
- Driving:
- Safely operating the dump truck to transport materials like ore, rocks, and overburden within the mine.
- Inspections:
- Performing thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the truck, including checking fluid levels, tires, brakes, lights, and other safety-related components.
- Maintenance:
- Performing minor maintenance tasks like checking and topping off fluids, and reporting any mechanical issues or maintenance needs to the maintenance department.
- Housekeeping:
- Keeping the truck clean and organized, both inside and out.
- Loading and Unloading:
- Ensuring proper loading and securing of materials onto the truck, and safely unloading them at designated locations.
- Material Handling:
- Verifying that materials are loaded and unloaded correctly and safely, and that the weight and distribution of the load are appropriate for the truck and the terrain.
- Tipping:
- Operating the hydraulic system to safely tilt the truck bed and dump the materials at the designated location.
- Communication:
- Communicating effectively with other team members, including dispatchers, supervisors, and other drivers, to coordinate transportation schedules and ensure smooth operations.
- Adherence to Procedures:
- Following all mine site safety protocols, traffic laws, and standard operating procedures.
- Reporting:
- Reporting any incidents, accidents, near misses, or safety hazards to the appropriate personnel.
- Record Keeping:
- Maintaining accurate records of trips, materials transported, fuel consumption, and any maintenance or repairs performed on the truck.
- Following Instructions:
- Following directions from supervisors and dispatchers regarding transportation routes, loading and unloading locations, and any other task assignments.
- Promoting Safety:
- Working to create and maintain a safe and healthy work environment for themselves and their colleagues.
Requirements:
- Must have a clean driving record
- Must have a clean Background
- Must have 4 or more years of driving if possible
- Must know how to drive a manual truck
- This will be a full-time position with 40 hours plus a week
- Must have a Class A or B license
