The Academy of Interactive Entertainment (AIE) in Lafayette, LA is looking to hire a part time Filmmaking Instructor. AIE is a post-secondary non-profit organization and specialist educator in Video Game Development for the fields of Programming, 3D Game Art & Animation, and VFX.
Overview:
The overarching duty of the Filmmaking Instructor is to support the instruction of courses in both disciplines while maintaining a professional, collaborative, and effective classroom environment. As a support teacher you are a full member of the faculty and will participate in all the traditional duties of a classroom teacher as well as work with the events, initiatives, and improvements required to advance the school. Teachers at AIE serve as mentors to their students, the up-and-coming artists of the industry. All instructors must have a minimum of 3 years of industry experience.
Teaching:
- Instruct college courses in the Filmmaking programs as assigned on a full time basis.
- Instruct other courses, camps, and workshops as assigned.
- Deliver lectures, provide direct instruction, and assist students in solving problems.
- Use current standardized AIE templates for curriculum documents and video tutorials. Any changes must be proposed to and vetted by the Head of Faculty for appropriateness and checked by the Head of School for compliance.
- Collaboratively plan, create and develop curriculum and educational resource materials. Prepare examples, materials, and tools for students to use in their learning.
- Maintain and seek ways to improve teaching standards across all art courses delivered.
- Collaborate with fellow faculty and the Head of School to improve the craft of teaching and to build an always-improving student experience that reflects the industry.
- Work with administration, Heads of School, Heads of Faculty, and Filmmaking staff across all campuses to ensure correct and current competencies are documented with assessment items.
General:
- With the Admissions staff, conduct interviews with prospective students and consult on their status as required.
- Seek out industry contacts and organize industry visits for the Advanced Diploma of Professional Filmmaking students each year.
- Participate in open days / nights and information sessions at AIE campuses or specified career events as required.
- Participate in external school visits to AIE campuses as required.
- Participate in visits to external schools as required.
- To be a valuable team member, with acceptable behavior in terms of work hours and work ethic.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
