About the Role
Mellotone Beer Project is looking for a Chef to join our kitchen team in our beautiful and refined brewpub space in Over-the-Rhine. We are a passionate group of humans who love to share the experience of world class beer paired with a high quality, seasonally driven menu. This position will be responsible for the culinary and technical execution of our menu, ensuring the highest quality food and a memorable guest experience.

Responsibilities
- Uphold Mellotone standards to maintain and own food quality, consistency, and allergen management
- Foster a collaborative and positive work environment
- Work with ownership on recipe development and menu innovation
- Maintain recipes and food costing using XtraChef, ensuring achievable food margins
- Work the line during service, including peak periods
- Train and develop line cooks
- Coordinate directly with the events team on kitchen capacity and capabilities before commitments are made to clients
- Maintain open, honest communication with ownership and the Kitchen Manager, including flagging issues proactively
Outside the Scope of This Role
- Scheduling, staffing, and ordering, which sit with the Kitchen Manager
- This role carries real technical authority. Final operational decisions are handled in collaboration with the Kitchen Manager. Candidates should be comfortable with that structure.
Qualifications
- Experience in a kitchen leadership role, with a proven track record of collaboration and the ability to train others
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment with significant weekend business
- Quality focused and detail oriented
- Experience in catering and private events food production is highly valued and preferred
- Strong experience with food safety and allergen handling
- Demonstrated experience costing recipes, ideally using XtraChef, Toast, or a comparable system
- Food safety certification preferred
Schedule
Full-time. Evenings, weekends, and holidays required.
Compensation
$50,000 to $60,000 annually (salaried), or $24 to $29/hour, depending on experience and final role structure.
