Position Summary
This hybrid position oversees the day-to-day management of our medical records department and also provides direct clinical support to providers. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable balancing patient-facing responsibilities with administrative tasks.
Medical Records Responsibilities
- Process medical records requests in accordance with HIPAA regulations
- Import and organize incoming records into the electronic health record
- Respond to requests from patients, specialists, hospitals, attorneys, and insurance companies
- Monitor and maintain accurate patient documentation
- Ensure timely completion of record requests and provider documentation
- Assist with chart audits and quality improvement initiatives
- Maintain confidentiality and compliance with all privacy regulations
Medical Assistant Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for examination by obtaining vital signs, medical history, and medication reconciliation
- Assist providers during patient visits and minor procedures
- Administer injections, immunizations, and medications within scope of practice
- Perform EKGs, point-of-care testing, specimen collection, and other clinical duties
- Process prescription refill requests and assist with patient follow-up
- Maintain exam rooms and clinical supplies
- Document accurately in eClinicalWorks
- Deliver exceptional patient service while maintaining efficiency throughout the day
Qualifications
- Certified or Registered Medical Assistant preferred
- Minimum one year of experience in a primary care or family medicine office preferred
- Medical records experience is preferred
- Experience with eClinicalWorks is highly desirable
- Strong computer, organizational, and communication skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities while maintaining accuracy
