Responsibilities
- Perform patient intake procedures, including collecting medical histories and documenting symptoms accurately.
- Measure vital signs such as blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration to assist clinicians in diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Assist with clinical tasks like medication administration, wound care, X-ray preparation, and basic life support when needed.
- Support physicians and nurses by preparing examination rooms, sterilizing equipment, and managing medical supplies inventory.
- Document patient encounters thoroughly using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems while ensuring compliance with privacy regulations.
- Conduct ICD coding for diagnoses and procedures to facilitate billing and insurance claims processing.
- Provide exceptional patient service by answering questions, offering reassurance, and coordinating follow-up appointments across outpatient and inpatient settings.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Medical Assistant in diverse healthcare environments such as dermatology, urgent care, hospital medicine or emergency medicine.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and hospital procedures including Level I Trauma Center or Level II Trauma Center experience preferred.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required; additional certifications such as X-ray operation or medication administration are advantageous.
- Familiarity with EHR systems and ICD coding processes to ensure accurate documentation and billing.
- Excellent communication skills with a focus on patient service; ability to work efficiently under pressure in fast-paced environments like Level I Trauma Centers or outpatient clinics.
