Position Summary
The Assistant Manager supports the General Manager in the daily operations of the restaurant, ensuring excellent customer service, efficient operations, and a positive work environment. This role helps oversee staff, maintain product quality, and ensure that all operational and safety standards are met.
Key Responsibilities
Operations Management
- Assist in overseeing daily restaurant operations to ensure smooth service.
- Support opening and closing procedures, including cash handling and deposit preparation.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, food safety standards, and local health regulations.
- Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering supplies as needed.
Team Leadership
- Supervise, train, and coach team members to maintain service and product standards.
- Assist in scheduling staff and ensuring adequate coverage during all shifts.
- Help onboard and train new employees.
- Promote a positive, team-oriented work environment.
Customer Service
- Ensure every guest receives friendly, prompt, and high-quality service.
- Address and resolve guest concerns or complaints in a professional manner.
- Lead by example in providing outstanding hospitality.
Financial Responsibilities
- Assist in monitoring daily sales, labor costs, and food costs.
- Help maintain proper cash control procedures.
- Support the General Manager in achieving sales and profitability goals.
Product & Brand Standards
- Ensure all food and beverage items meet Newport Creamery quality standards.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the dining room, kitchen, and storage areas.
- Support promotional campaigns and seasonal menu items.
Qualifications
- Previous restaurant or hospitality experience required.
- Leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic understanding of restaurant financials (labor, food cost, inventory).
- Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 30–40 pounds.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced restaurant environment.

Pay: $50,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
