Serves as an Operating Room (OR) and Endoscopy team member who manages the sterile field during a surgical procedure. Assists all staff with direct patient care activities. Assumes responsibility for providing technical assistance in the Operating Room. Plans and evaluates care provided with consideration for the age specific patient. Assists in the delivery of quality patient care by performance of technical duties relating to scrub personnel, and assists with departmental work as assigned. Must be able to function efficiently in all situations. Participates in variable on-call hours. Participates in department QI activities. Maintains knowledge of legal limitations pertaining to the role of a Surgical Technologist. Serves as a central processing technician and/or endoscopy technician as needed. Provides involvement and participates in developing safe work practices to ensure a safe workplace. Identifies health and safety concerns, unsafe work practices and reports these to appropriate personnel.
BLS required upon hire and maintained throughout employment. Graduate of an accredited program of surgical technical training with a current certificate to practice. Possess and maintains a current Certified Surgical Services Technologist Certificate. Operating Room experience and/or willingness to learn required. Ability to interact well with patients, family, physicians and staff members to provide appropriate and safe patient care. Certification by Association of Surgery Technologists preferred.
