How you'll contribute
A Nurse Extern who excels in this role:

Direct patient care under the direction, delegation and supervision of a Registered Nurse.

Documents patient care given.

Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to supervising RN.

Maintains positive professional relationship with patient/ families, coworkers, and health care team.

Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.

Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances. -
Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.

What we're looking for
Applicants should be currently enrolled in an approved school of nursing and be a third-year student or higher, with expected graduation within 13 months of hire. Additional requirements include:
- Must be in good standing with the approved school of nursing
- Demonstrated clinical competence to safely perform required duties
- Basic Life Support (BLS) – Healthcare Provider certification required
- Strong foundational clinical knowledge and ability to apply learning in a patient care setting
- Effective communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with healthcare staff
- Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment while maintaining attention to detail
