Position Overview
Cenergy is seeking an experienced Information Governance Analyst to support enterprise information governance, information lifecycle management, content optimization, and process improvement initiatives for a leading energy organization.
This is a technical, analytical role focused on improving how information is classified, structured, analyzed, governed, retained, migrated, and accessed. The analyst will evaluate information environments, maintain metadata and classification structures, develop data maps, support content cleanup efforts, analyze trends, and partner with business and IT teams to implement practical solutions.
The assignment will begin as a contract position, with potential future employment based on business needs, performance, and available opportunities. Future employment or conversion is not guaranteed.
Responsibilities
- Support enterprise Information Governance and Information Management programs.
- Analyze information repositories, content structures, systems, and business processes to identify quality, accessibility, compliance, and efficiency opportunities.
- Develop, maintain, and improve taxonomies, metadata standards, classification structures, retention schedules, and data maps.
- Analyze relationships among business processes, information assets, systems, and stakeholders to improve information flow and ownership.
- Identify and support remediation of redundant, obsolete, and trivial (ROT) content.
- Assist with content assessment, cleanup, categorization, and migration into approved enterprise systems.
- Compile, analyze, and interpret information management metrics, statistical data, and quality indicators.
- Prepare reports, dashboards, presentations, and analyses that support decision-making and program effectiveness.
- Use advanced Microsoft Excel functions, including PivotTables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, formulas, filters, and data validation, to perform analysis.
- Support information quality and standardization by reviewing metadata, naming conventions, classifications, and repository structures.
- Partner with IT teams to enhance, test, and maintain information management systems.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather requirements and develop practical information management solutions.
- Document workflows, procedures, standards, and recommendations.
- Support user training, communications, adoption, and change management activities.
- Participate in information modernization and other related projects as needed.
QualificationsRequired
- Three or more years of experience in Information Management, Information Governance, Data Governance, Content Management, Records & Information Management, or a related analytical discipline.
- Experience working with enterprise information management, content management, document management, or data governance systems.
- Experience analyzing and organizing large volumes of structured and unstructured information.
- Understanding of information lifecycle management principles and information governance practices.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, formulas, reporting, and data analysis.
- Strong analytical, critical-thinking, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with technical teams, business users, and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and shifting priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
Preferred
- Experience developing or maintaining taxonomies, metadata frameworks, classification structures, retention schedules, and data maps.
- Experience with SharePoint, Documentum, OpenText, or similar enterprise content management platforms.
- Experience supporting ROT remediation, content cleanup, repository rationalization, or content migration initiatives.
- Experience with information quality analysis, governance metrics, dashboards, or data lineage.
- Familiarity with Records & Information Management methodologies.
- Experience with Power BI, SQL, Tableau, Python, or comparable reporting and analytical tools.
- Experience working in the energy, engineering, industrial, utilities, manufacturing, or other regulated industries.
- Experience supporting digital transformation or information modernization initiatives.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Management, Information Systems, Business Administration, Data Management, Library Science, Records Management, or a related field
- Equivalent education, training, and relevant professional experience will be considered.
