Mission: St. Louis, a local nonprofit, is looking for an experienced Residential Home Repair Technician to join our Minor Home Repair Program. Our technicians use their skills every day to help older adults remain safe, comfortable, and independent in the homes they love.
This is more than a handyman job. You'll have the opportunity to use your experience across a variety of residential repairs while building meaningful relationships with the people we serve.
What You'll Do
Our work focuses primarily on fall prevention, accessibility, safety, security, energy efficiency, and weatherization.
Your projects may include:
- Plumbing repairs and installations
- Electrical repairs and fixture installation
- Carpentry and general home repairs
- Installing grab bars and handrails
- Toilet and faucet replacement
- Light fixture and ceiling fan installation
- Door and window repairs
- Weatherization and energy-efficiency improvements
- Other minor residential repairs and maintenance
You will work independently in homes throughout St. Louis City while being part of a collaborative team.
You'll assess problems, troubleshoot solutions, manage your materials, communicate with homeowners, complete quality repairs, and document your work.
Qualifications
- At least 5 years of experience across multiple areas of residential repair, particularly plumbing, electrical, and carpentry
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- Strong communication and customer-service skills
- Reliable attendance and punctuality
- Valid driver's license and reliable driving history
- Ability to perform the physical requirements of residential repair work, including lifting, carrying, climbing, kneeling, bending, and reaching
We'd Especially Like to See
- Experience working in older, occupied St. Louis City homes
- Experience with accessibility or aging-in-place modifications
- Experience with weatherization or energy-efficiency improvements
- Experience working with older adults
Salary & Benefits:
- $55,000–$65,000 annual salary
- Monday–Friday schedule
