Duties
- Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and supplies, ensuring aseptic techniques are followed for every procedure
- Assist dentists chairside during examinations, restorations, extractions, and other dental treatments with precision and confidence
- Take and develop dental X-rays using advanced imaging equipment such as 3D scanners and medical imaging tools
- Manage patient records efficiently using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy
- Provide vital signs monitoring and support all ages dentistry procedures by creating a friendly environment for young patients
- Support infection control protocols by sterilizing instruments, maintaining proper hygiene standards, and following strict aseptic techniques
- Collaborate seamlessly with the dental team including reception staff to handle medical documentation, medical coding, and appointment scheduling as a dental receptionist when needed
Requirements
- Proven experience in dental assisting within a general dentistry setting with familiarity in dental terminology and anatomy knowledge
- Proficiency in EMR systems such as open dental, dentrix
- Knowledge of infection control practices, sterilization procedures, and aseptic techniques essential for maintaining a safe clinical environment
- Ability to perform X-ray procedures accurately while adhering to safety standards; certification in X-ray technology preferred
- Strong understanding of dental procedures and chairside assisting techniques like four-handed dentistry
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages
- Flexibility to adapt to various clinical tasks such as vital signs measurement, medical imaging, and assisting with complex dental treatments
