JOB GOAL: To assist the certified school nurse in the efficient operation of the school health program.
REPORTS TO: School Nurse, School Physician, Principal and Superintendent or his designee.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist in maintaining the health office under the direction of a certified school nurse.

Review health records for state immunizations.

Render first aid for injuries and illnesses.

Weigh and measure students in school.

Send notices to parents regarding medical examinations.

Dispense medication according to Board Policy under the direction of the certified school nurse as approved by the school physician.

Assist in the maintenance of medical records and the performance of clerical tasks. The RN will not have access to employee medical records unless requested by an employee.

Provide for the transportation of ill or injured persons to home or hospital when authorized by the principal.

Assist the certified nurse in: Auditory screening: vision screening, strep screening. physical examinations

Prepares health and safety reports as required by law and/or requested by the certified school nurse or principal.

Reports any suspicion of child abuse to the Division of Youth and Family Services and building principal.

Performs such other appropriate duties as required under law or as may be assigned by the certified school nurse, principal or superintendent.
