The essential functions of the job for the Housekeeper/Laundry Aide, requires, and may be amended from time to time at the sole discretion of Viva Senior Living to include, but are not limited to the following:

Comply with standards of business conduct in accordance with federal, state and local health and regulatory standards and guidelines, as applicable.

Must possess, at a minimum, a high school diploma or a GED
-
Must be able to work well with peers in a congenial work environment, and above all, maintain the utmost compassion and dignity to the residents and adhere to the Resident Bill of Rights.

In exigent circumstances, the employee may be subject to call back during emergency conditions (e.g., severe weather, evacuation, temporary staffing shortages, etc.).

Must adhere to Viva Senior Living’s attendance policies and follow the terms and conditions of employment as set forth in the Employee Handbook.

Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.

Must maintain the highest standards in caring and servicing the needs of the residents and residents' family members and loves ones.

Must adhere to all facility policies and procedures.

Complete assigned work tasks to maintain the community’s clean, safe, and orderly condition while providing a pleasant environment for residents, as directed by the supervisor, and in accordance with company policies and procedures.

Daily dusting and waxing of furniture in each assigned room
-
Daily vacuuming of assigned areas
-
Daily cleaning of bathrooms in assigned rooms, including sink, tub, and toilet
-
Change the supply of paper goods in each resident’s bathroom and replenish toilet tissue, facial tissue, and soap when needed

Empty wastebaskets in assigned rooms each day
-
Observe condition of rooms and report anything in need of repair to maintenance (light bulbs, etc.)

Check for food in rooms not in sealed containers and dispose of if necessary
-
Check for unsecured throw rugs and extension cords
-
Housekeepers will be responsible for the cleanliness of all resident rooms
-
Responsible for sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, buffing, general cleaning, window cleaning, floor care, furniture cleaning, and maintaining all public areas

Daily cleaning of public bathrooms and emptying of trash receptacles
-
Performs other duties as requested

Gather dirty sheets, towels and personal clothes
-
Daily laundry of residents' clothes; washing, folding and returning clothes to the correct resident
-
sorting linens, towels, clothing and other laundry items by color, size and material
-
Creating laundry tags with identifiable resident information
-
Operate commercial washing machines and dryers
-
Fold clean clothes and linens neatly. Deliver them back to the resident rooms or storage closet.

Clean lint traps, washing tubs and machines daily. Keep the work area clean, safe and free of clutter

Manage laundry supplies and report to supervisor when laundry supplies are needed to be replenished

Report broken equipment to the supervisor

Must provide annual verification of a negative TB skin test.

Proof of full COVID-19 vaccination required with exceptions for medical and religious accommodations.

Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.

Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.

Must be able to see and hear or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to ensure that the requirements of this position can be fully met.

Must meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies of this facility, which include a medical and physical examination.

Must be able to relate to and work with the ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and, at times, agitated residents
-
Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet and be able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet.

May be necessary to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations.
