American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Med/Surg Tele position at a Level 3 Trauma, 457-bed hospital in Concord, NC, requiring at least 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience on a 12-hour night shift schedule.

Medical/Surgical Overflow unit in a 457-bed, Level 3 Trauma hospital that is also a Stroke Center of Excellence, Bariatric Center of Excellence, and Chest Pain Center

Patient population includes chronic diseases, CHF, mental health, addiction services (patients requiring 6-week IV antibiotics), COPD, diabetes, wound care, and geriatric care
-
Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4–6 (acuity dependent); may surge to 1:7–8

Skills include cardiac rhythm interpretation, non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem/Amiodarone), care of patients with tubes/drains, IV starts, blood product administration, and wound care/dressing changes

EMR: Epic

Department equipment includes scales, GBS machine, transfer device, vein finder, EKG, crash cart, language interpreter, telemedicine cart, and doppler

12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM–7:00 AM, 36 hours per week

Every other weekend rotation required

No on-call requirements

Floating required within Region 1 (Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, and Central Division including CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH) per regional needs and within scope of practice — candidates not willing to float should not apply

Travel time between facilities is compensated when floating mid-shift

Active NC or Compact RN license required

Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS

Minimum 18 months of Med/Surg Tele RN experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
-
General Med/Tele skillset required, including cardiac rhythm interpretation, IV starts, blood product administration, and wound care
-
Epic EMR experience

Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not accepted
-
At least 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN is required for consideration
-
Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration

Department support includes a Nurse Manager, Administrative Clinical Supervisor, Clinical Supervisor, staff RNs, CNAs, a Clinical Mentor, Rapid Response RN, and House Supervisor

Orientation includes a facility-level NEO plus 2 days of departmental orientation

Schedules are set in 6-week cycles

Travelers are expected to work 75% of assigned holidays

Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays; contract time may be extended if contracted hours cannot otherwise be met
