Assistant Manager — Cupitol Coffee & Eatery (Streeterville)

About the Role
We're looking for a hands-on Assistant Manager to help lead daily operations at our Streeterville location. You'll work closely with the General Manager to keep the floor running smoothly, develop our team, and uphold the standards that make Cupitol a destination in every neighborhood we open in. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants real ownership and a path to growth with an expanding brand.
What You'll Do
- Oversee daily front- and back-of-house operations, ensuring smooth service during breakfast, lunch, and dinner
- Lead, coach, and schedule a team of servers, baristas, and support staff
- Step in on the floor during peak hours — hosting, expediting, resolving guest issues in real time
- Support hiring, onboarding, and training of new team members
- Monitor labor costs, inventory, and ordering in partnership with the GM
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and food handling standards
- Help execute promotions, catering orders, and special events
- Open and close the restaurant, including cash handling and nightly reporting
- Uphold Cupitol's culture and service standards on every shift

What We're Looking For
- 2+ years of experience in a restaurant or hospitality leadership role (Assistant Manager, Shift Lead, or similar)
- A genuine passion for food, coffee, and guest experience
- Strong communication and team-leadership skills
- Ability to stay calm and organized during high-volume service
- Flexibility to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
- Food handler certification (or ability to obtain one)
- A proactive, solutions-first mindset — you spot problems before they become guest complaints
