Ark is seeking a dependable, hardworking, and experienced Lead Kennel Technician to oversee the daily care of hospitalized, boarding, and treatment patients within our fast-paced mixed animal veterinary hospital. This leadership position is responsible for maintaining the highest standards of animal care, cleanliness, organization, and kennel operations while assisting with training and supervising kennel staff.
The ideal candidate is self-motivated, detail-oriented, physically capable, and comfortable working independently while supporting veterinarians, technicians, and reception staff in a busy five-exam-room clinic.
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of veterinary clinic, veterinary hospital, or boarding facility experience required
- Strong animal handling and restraint skills
- Previous experience working with companion animals and farm animals
- Ability to safely handle animals of varying sizes and temperaments
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks
- Dependable, professional, and team-oriented
- Leadership or supervisory experience preferred
Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily care, feeding, cleaning, exercise, and monitoring of hospitalized and boarding patients
- Ensure kennel areas, treatment areas, and hospital facilities remain clean, sanitized, and organized
- Monitor patient appetite, behavior, elimination, and overall well-being, reporting concerns promptly to medical staff
- Administer medications and treatments as directed by veterinarians and technicians
- Assist with patient restraint and basic patient care procedures
- Maintain laundry, dishes, waste disposal, and general facility cleanliness
- Train, mentor, and assist kennel staff in proper animal care and hospital protocols
- Ensure all kennel and boarding protocols are followed consistently
- Monitor inventory and notify management of supply needs
- Support efficient patient flow throughout the hospital
- Establish work schedule for kennel staff
