Project Engineer – Industrial Electric, Inc.
An IEI Project Engineer – Instrumentation Technician supports project teams with the coordination, documentation, and technical review of Emerson DeltaV systems and related instrumentation work. This position works closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, field personnel, engineers, vendors, and clients to help ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with project requirements.
Responsibilities
As a Project Engineer – Instrumentation Technician, your key responsibility will be to provide technical and administrative support throughout the project lifecycle, with an emphasis on Emerson DeltaV systems, field coordination, document control, and engineering and design review.
A. Project Start Up
- Assist with project planning and coordination alongside Project Managers, Operations Managers, Superintendents, engineers, and field teams.
- Review project drawings, specifications, instrumentation documentation, and DeltaV system requirements.
- Identify potential conflicts, interferences, design concerns, or missing information and assist with resolution.
- Help establish and maintain project schedules, document-control processes, and project tracking systems.
B. Project Build
- Coordinate instrumentation and DeltaV-related activities between the engineering team, field personnel, vendors, and project leadership.
- Support field teams by reviewing installation requirements, responding to technical questions, and helping resolve construction or engineering issues.
- Assist with RFIs, submittals, change notices, equipment documentation, and vendor materials.
- Perform engineering and design reviews to verify that project documents align with specifications, field conditions, and client requirements.
- Maintain drawings, specifications, control documents, reports, project databases, quality-control records, and other technical documentation.
- Track material procurement, expediting, delivery, storage, and installation.
- Attend project and coordination meetings, document action items, and distribute meeting minutes as needed.
- Serve as a communication liaison between the office, field, engineering team, vendors, and client representatives.
C. Project Closeout
- Assist project close-out by developing and completing close-out documentation.
- Maintain and complete As-Builts.
- Manage punch list process.
- Help ensure required DeltaV and instrumentation documentation is organized and delivered to the client.

What it takes
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, or related field or 1-4 years of related work experience or a combination of both.
- Knowledgeable of Construction processes.
- Familiarity with Emerson DeltaV distributed control systems is preferred.
- Proven computer platform experience. Procore a plus.
