General Description:
The Adoption Specialist is responsible for the recruitment, training and assessment of prospective adoptive parents for foster and non-foster parent adoptions, and this includes those children listed on MARE. They are also responsible for the child assessment, child placement, monitoring of the placement, court filing, general procedures and the paperwork associated with the above-named tasks.
Principle Responsibilities
· Provide orientation training to prospective adoptive families
· Complete home assessments on interested families
· Complete assessments/placement preparation on assigned children up to a caseload of 15
· Provide placement services including court filings
· Complete all legal documentation and maintain records per agency and MDHHS standards
· Comply with contractual terms for external child referrals
· Provide consultation, support and assistance to team members regarding adoption cases
· Attend court hearings, case conferences, community or recruitment events.
· Assumes additional job-related responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in a relevant field of human services from an accredited college or university, with one year experience in adoption
· Ability to effectively communicate with others both verbally and in writing
· Ability to work as part of a team and independently
· Good organizational skills
· Good interpersonal skills
· Strong commitment to providing quality family-centered service and permanency for children.
Pay: $40,000.00 - $42,000.00 per year
