Position Summary
The Press Operator Level 1 supports the setup, maintenance, and operation of offset printing presses. This position works under the direction of the Head Pressman and Plant Manager to ensure safe, efficient production and high-quality finished products.
Responsibilities and Duties
Follow instructions from the Head Pressman and Plant Manager.
Safely operate and properly maintain the press, ancillary equipment, and related systems.
Bend and install plates on the press.
Prepare paper for press and make roll splices without breaking the web.
Bundle and stack finished product on skids.
Operate a strapper and prepare products for mailing as needed.
Read the job ticket for every job.
Maintain a clean and organized work area by sweeping, mopping, and removing trash daily.
Perform press maintenance as directed or required by the Head Pressman or Production Director.
Demonstrate a sense of urgency when minimizing press waste and making color adjustments.
Qualifications and Skills
Mechanically inclined.
Dependable and punctual.
Able to listen to and follow directions.
Strong team-player attitude.
Willingness to learn press operations and maintenance.
