Regulatory/ Compliance Laboratory Tech .
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Two (2) years of experience in the testing or analysis of environmental samples is preferred.
2. Ability to compile Excel spreadsheets with a thorough understanding of formulas, linking and other aspects of programs.
3. Must have the ability to work independently.
4. Must have knowledge of safety practices and procedures.
5. Must be able to communicate effectively, both oral and in writing.
6. Must be able to prepare reports and efficiently maintain accurate records.
7. Must work designated weekends and holidays.
8. Must be available for emergency call outs.
9. Live within 25 miles of the treatment plant is preferred.
10. Must possess a valid Pennsylvania driver's license. A Class B with tanker endorsement is preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Thorough knowledge of laboratory practices and procedures.
Knowledge of both activated sludge and extended air wastewater processes and treatment plant systems.
Ability to perform basic math skills.
Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships.
Thorough knowledge of KTMA policies and procedures.
Ability to use various computer programs necessary for the operation of the KTMA and KCR facilities.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for ensuring all NPDES required testing is completed for all facilities.
Monitor and develop new procedures and policies for effective and efficient data collection to ensure compliance with all parameters of NPDES permits.
Review daily plant operation data, laboratory data for proper operational decisions.
Accurately and precisely prepare and maintain records and reports as required.
Prepare all end of month records for laboratory and DEP Audits.
Maintain library of O&M documents and publications for use by the staff.
Respond to emergency call outs.
Change 2000lb and 150lb chlorine gas cylinders.
Attend weekly staff meetings.
Any other duties deemed necessary.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be able to work in a confined space.
Must be able to use Self Contained Breathing Apparatus
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use his or her arms, hands, and fingers to operate touch screens, hand and power tools, and operate valves.
Required to stand and walk for long periods of time. Ability to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel.
Required to use ladders and climb to various heights and depths.
Must be able to lift 75 lbs.
Vision, hearing, and a sense of smell must be appropriate to allow the employee to accomplish the job tasks required.
