Job Overview
We are seeking an energetic and compassionate Hospice Volunteer Coordinator to lead our volunteer engagement efforts within our hospice care team. Duties
- Recruit, interview, and onboard volunteers through targeted outreach and campus recruitment strategies.
- Develop and implement comprehensive training programs to prepare volunteers for their roles in hospice care.
- Coordinate volunteer schedules, assignments, and activities to ensure optimal coverage and engagement.
- Provide ongoing supervision, mentorship, and support to volunteers, fostering a positive and inclusive environment.
- Manage volunteer records using database management systems such as Homecare Homebase to track hours, training completion, and performance.
- Organize community engagement initiatives to promote awareness of hospice services and volunteer opportunities.
- Facilitate volunteer engagement programs that enhance team cohesion, satisfaction, and retention through recognition events and feedback sessions.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure volunteers deliver compassionate support aligned with patient needs.
- Lead public speaking engagements and community presentations to attract new volunteers and strengthen community partnerships.
- Oversee project management activities related to volunteer programs, ensuring timely execution of initiatives.
Requirements
- Proven experience in volunteer coordination or management within healthcare or community settings.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; bilingual abilities are a plus for working with diverse communities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and experience with electronic medical records systems such as Homecare Homebase.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with experience supervising teams or managing large volunteer groups.
- Ability to engage effectively with culturally diverse populations through community engagement experience.
- Experience in recruiting volunteers through campus recruitment or community outreach efforts.
- Exceptional customer service skills combined with a compassionate approach to supporting patients and families.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to develop training & development programs for volunteers.
- Public speaking experience for conducting presentations or informational sessions about hospice services and volunteer opportunities.
