Duties
- Assist licensed physical therapists and rehabilitation specialists in implementing treatment plans tailored to individual patient needs.
- Support patient transfer methods using proper manual handling techniques to ensure safety and comfort during mobility exercises.
- Prepare treatment areas, equipment, and supplies for therapy sessions, maintaining cleanliness and organization.
- Monitor patient progress during therapy sessions, documenting observations accurately while maintaining strict confidentiality of all patient information.
- Provide hands-on support with exercises, modalities, and therapeutic activities under supervision, ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
- Educate patients and their families on post-acute care routines, mobility techniques, and injury prevention strategies.
- Maintain detailed records of patient interactions, treatment progress, and any incidents or concerns for review by healthcare professionals.
Skills
- Must be proficient in scheduling patients using Rehab Optima (Net Health) software.
- Schedule, reschedule, and coordinate daily therapy appointments based on therapist availability, physician orders, insurance requirements, and patient needs.
- Monitor daily therapy schedules to maximize therapist productivity and treatment efficiency.
- Update schedules promptly for admissions, discharges, evaluations, refusals, and changes in treatment frequency.
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to rehabilitation care.
- Proven experience in practicing within a physical therapy or rehabilitation setting, including inpatient, outpatient, or hospital environments.
- Expertise in patient service with excellent communication skills to effectively engage with diverse clients and team members.
- Proficiency in manual handling techniques, patient transfer methods, and heavy lifting to support safe mobility assistance.
- Familiarity with CPR certification and acute care procedures to respond promptly to emergencies.
- Experience working in hospital medicine or sub-acute care environments with a focus on geriatrics, orthopedics, or post-acute recovery.
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality rigorously while managing multiple priorities efficiently.
