Positive Pie is built on great food, great drinks, genuine hospitality, and a team that takes pride in what they do.
We’re eclectic, casual, fast-paced, and proudly Vermont. Our culture is rooted in hard work, teamwork, accountability, and taking care of each other. We want leaders who bring personality to work, take ownership of their role, and understand that creating a great restaurant experience takes the whole team.
We’re looking for an experienced FOH Manager / Bar Manager who can help lead our front-of-house team while taking ownership of our bar program and standards.
This is a hands-on leadership role. We need someone who is just as comfortable coaching an employee, managing a busy Friday night service, and solving a guest concern as they are jumping behind the bar, running food, or helping reset the restaurant after a rush.
If you're a strong bartender who's ready for the next step in leadership—or an experienced restaurant manager who loves the energy and creativity of the bar—we'd like to meet you.
What You'll DoLead the Front of House
Help create a FOH team that is welcoming, accountable, knowledgeable, and prepared for service. Set the tone on the floor, communicate expectations clearly, and lead by example.
Own the Bar Program
Take pride and ownership in the day-to-day operation of the bar, including beverage quality, recipes, organization, cleanliness, inventory, ordering, prep, and overall presentation.
You'll also have the opportunity to contribute ideas for seasonal cocktails, beverage features, local products, and ways to keep our bar program fresh and relevant.
Lead Great Shifts
Run organized, efficient shifts while maintaining a visible leadership presence. Anticipate problems, communicate with the kitchen and FOH team, make adjustments when needed, and keep service moving during high-volume periods.
Coach & Develop the Team
Provide employees with clear direction, feedback, and coaching. Recognize strong performance and address concerns when expectations aren't being met.
We're looking for someone who understands that good leadership isn't just about telling people what to do—it's about developing a team that knows what's expected and takes pride in delivering it.
Create a Great Guest Experience
Be present and engaged with our guests. Build relationships with regulars, welcome new faces, make thoughtful recommendations, and handle guest concerns professionally and confidently.
Maintain Operational Standards
Help ensure the restaurant consistently meets our expectations for:
- Service and hospitality
- Bar and dining room cleanliness
- Opening and closing procedures
- Cash handling
- Responsible alcohol service
- Food safety and sanitation
- Side work and shift responsibilities
- Beverage consistency and presentation
- Inventory and product controls
Work as One Team
Our managers aren't observers—they're part of the operation.
You'll jump behind the bar when needed, help servers through a rush, run food, support the host stand, communicate with the kitchen, and do whatever is reasonably needed to create a successful service.
There is no "that's not my job" mentality here.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone with a combination of hospitality experience, leadership ability, and strong bar knowledge.
Our ideal candidate:
- Has previous restaurant leadership, bartending, or high-volume serving experience
- Has strong cocktail, beer, wine, and beverage knowledge
- Is interested in developing and improving a beverage program
- Can confidently lead a busy restaurant shift
- Communicates clearly and professionally
- Is comfortable coaching employees and holding people accountable
- Can make decisions and solve problems without needing constant direction
- Builds positive relationships with both FOH and BOH employees
- Handles difficult guest or employee situations calmly and professionally
- Is organized and attentive to details
- Understands inventory, product controls, and responsible cash handling
- Takes cleanliness and restaurant presentation seriously
- Is dependable and follows through on commitments
- Leads by example rather than from the sidelines
- Brings positive energy while still maintaining professional standards
- Is available to work nights, weekends, holidays, and other peak business periods
- Meets all applicable requirements for serving alcohol in Vermont
The Leadership Style We're Looking For
We believe strong restaurant leadership is a balance of accountability and support.
We want a manager who can build relationships with employees while still being willing to have difficult conversations when necessary. Someone who doesn't walk past a problem because it's uncomfortable, but also doesn't believe every mistake requires discipline.
Set expectations. Coach people. Follow up. Recognize improvement. Hold the standard.
Most importantly, be consistent.
