The selected candidate will be responsible for preparing and/or reviewing fire protection, and plumbing design documents for various projects including commercial buildings and transportation related facilities to ensure compliance with applicable construction codes and standards (must be familiar with NY and NJ construction codes, NFPA and standards). Specific responsibilities include: developing, planning, analyzing and reviewing drawings, specifications, hydraulic calculations, reports, and studies for compliance with codes and standards; coordinating the review comments from other technical disciplines and preparing memoranda for transmitting comments to the line departments; and attending meetings with design consultants to discuss the review comments and resolving those issues.
Responsibilities:

Plan and develop Plumbing & Fire Protection design for new and existing buildings and systems

Sizing piping and pumping systems

Perform hydraulic calculations
- Assess and modify existing fire protection and plumbing systems

Coordinate with other building elements such architectural, mechanical, structural, electrical etc.

Research and specification of fire protection and plumbing components for optimal design to meet project goals

Perform site surveys as required

Knowledge of AutoCAD, BIM (Revit)
Qualifications:

Minimum 4 year degree (BS) in mechanical or fire protection engineering

Minimum 4 years previous experience in fire protection and plumbing systems design for building in the USA (preferably in NY)

Proficient knowledge of NY Construction Codes and Standards including NFPA 13/14

Proficiency in use of AutoCad, BIM (Revit)

Demonstrated ability to work independently in a decision-making capacity

Excellent root cause analysis skills
