Job Description: We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Asbestos Abatement Supervisor to lead and oversee asbestos removal projects. The Asbestos Supervisor will be responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant execution of all asbestos abatement activities, from initial site assessment to final clearance. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of federal, state, and local asbestos regulations (OSHA, EPA, Washington State L&I) and exceptional leadership skills.
The ideal candidate: Takes ownership over projects and tasks assigned to them, performs abatement work with integrity and according to industry standards, and has a strong work ethic that places them above their peers.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise and direct crews of asbestos abatement workers on job sites.
- Ensure strict adherence to all federal, state, and local asbestos regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA, Washington State L&I) and company safety protocols.
- Conduct daily safety briefings and ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Oversee site containment setup, equipment utilization, and proper handling of asbestos-containing materials (ACM).
- Monitor air quality within containment areas and ensure all work is performed according to regulatory standards.
- Perform visual inspections of work after completion to ensure quality and compliance.
- Collect bulk samples of suspected ACM as required.
- Maintain accurate and detailed project documentation, including log books, daily reports, timecards, and other required paperwork.
- Coordinate with project managers, clients, and regulatory agencies as needed.
- Manage and account for all equipment and materials on job sites.
- Ensure proper labeling, doubling, and disposal of hazardous materials.
- Participate in the training of new employees, ensuring they are well-versed in safety procedures and work practices.
- Address any on-site issues or challenges that may arise.
- Ensure job sites are left clean and ready for subsequent work or reoccupation.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Current and valid Asbestos Supervisor certification (Washington State certification preferred).
- Minimum of [X] years of experience in asbestos abatement projects, with at least [X] years in a supervisory role.
- Extensive knowledge of federal, state, and local asbestos regulations, including OSHA and EPA guidelines, and Washington Administrative Codes (WAC 296-65-012, etc.).
- Proven leadership and management skills, with the ability to effectively supervise and motivate a team.
- Strong communication (written and verbal), interpersonal, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to read and interpret project specifications, safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to complete routine reports and correspondence.
- Must be able to pass an environmental physical, enabling the individual to wear a respirator.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. unaided, stand, and climb on ladders, roofs, and uneven/unstable surfaces.
- Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record.
- Basic knowledge of construction techniques and practices related to asbestos, mold, or lead-based paint removal.
- Willing to travel up to 4 days with provided accomidations.
