Position Title: Analytical Chemist - Level 1
Department: Quality Control
Reports To: Assistant Manager, QC Lab
POSITION OBJECTIVE: The Level I Analytical Chemist will perform chemical analysis of finished drug products and stability samples. The Level I analyst will work under more seasoned analysts and will be trained as needed to expand their skill set.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· The Analytical Chemist I will be trained to perform procedures using analytical instrumentation such as FTIR, UV, HPLC, GC, and AA
· Document the analytical data that is generated from the testing and perform the required calculations.
· Maintain Laboratory Notebook and Logbooks to assure data integrity
· Ensure tests are performed according to established specifications and standard test methods
· Perform instrument calibration
· Troubleshoot basic instrument problems under supervision
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Chemistry, Biology, or other related field
· 6mos to 1 year in Chemistry Lab preferred but new degree candidates will be considered
· Experience with laboratory equipment and procedures
· Strong math skills
· Strong computer skills including Excel Spreadsheets
· Ability to work independently
EDUCATION:
· Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Chemistry, Biology, or other related field
The work environment is primarily a Quality Control laboratory within a pharmaceutical manufacturing facility. While performing the essential functions of this position, the employee may work with laboratory chemicals, solvents, reagents, pharmaceutical products, and analytical instrumentation. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including laboratory coats, safety glasses, gloves, and other protective equipment as required, must be worn in accordance with established safety procedures.
The employee may be required to stand or sit for extended periods, perform repetitive laboratory tasks, handle and prepare samples, and use laboratory and computer equipment. The noise level in the laboratory is generally moderate but may vary depending on equipment and activities being performed.
Employees are required to follow all applicable safety procedures, Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and other company policies while working in the laboratory and manufacturing areas.
