Overview
The Quality Technician will provide quality assurance support to the production team by identifying errors, defects, and other potential issues, while ensuring that products meet customer specifications. The ideal candidate is proficient in inspection processes, including but not limited to visual inspection and gauge inspection, and has the ability to operate a Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM). This individual should also have excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities
- Conduct quality inspections including the application of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T). Use of calipers, micrometers (OD & depth), bore gauges, surface plates, indicators, height gauges, protractors, thread gauges, pin gauges, gauge blocks, radius gauges, scales, etc.
- Perform inspection of all products manufactured or processed for customers to ensure compliance with customer specifications. Immediately address nonconforming parts with the Quality team and assist with corrective actions.
- Perform receiving and final inspection on AFI components and complete required paperwork to ensure compliance with QMS requirements.
- Perform in-process inspections using CMM equipment and accurately document inspection results.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams on a daily basis, monitor processes and maintain quality records to prevent defects and ensure customer satisfaction.
- Participate in the company’s Continuous Improvement initiatives to enhance processes, efficiency, and overall performance.
- Participate in the inspection and evaluation of items on the Material Review Board (MRB) table.
- Perform shipping preparations and associated documentation as required.
- Assist with inventory control of components.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Management.
- Uphold and maintain internal quality systems.
- Maintain written and verbal professionalism at all times with coworkers, customers, and vendors.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment including final inspection area.
- Must follow all safety rules and policies as set forth by OSHA guidelines and Aero Foil International policies and procedures.
Education and Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Knowledge of quality management systems such as ISO 9001, AS9100 series, AS9120 or NADCAP
- Minimum of two years’ experience in a quality department or quality assurance within a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to use specialized tools, interpret blueprints, and understand technical documentation. CMM experience preferred
- Meticulous attention to detail for precise inspections and accurate documentation.
- Must be quality conscious and uphold AFI’s Quality Policy Statement/Quality Management System at all times
- Must be able to prioritize tasks and be able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Familiarity with Microsoft office applications, specifically Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Good understanding of lifecycle in a manufacturing setting from purchase order acceptance throughout production to customer shipment.
- Ability to effectively communicate with team members and document findings.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation, including occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds, pushing/pulling, bending, stooping, and reaching in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to meet the visual requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation, including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Ability to stand and/or walk for up to 8 hours per day or more, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions and temperatures.
- Exposure to moderate shop environment noise level.
- Exposure to fluorescent lighting.
- Standard hours are 7am-3:30pm, however hours may vary due to demand day by day. On occasion, days may exceed 8 hours, and the Quality Technician must be willing to stay until the job is done in order to meet the timely need of customers.
