Duties
- Conduct initial patient assessments by collecting vital signs, medical history, and current symptoms using Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems.
- Prioritize patient needs based on acuity levels, ensuring urgent cases receive immediate attention.
- Assist with intake procedures, including documentation of symptoms and relevant medical information for accurate record-keeping.
- Support clinical staff by preparing examination rooms, sterilizing equipment, and managing medical supplies efficiently.
- Facilitate communication between patients and healthcare providers by relaying critical information clearly and accurately.
- Maintain detailed medical documentation adhering to confidentiality standards and coding requirements such as ICD (International Classification of Diseases).
- Perform basic procedures like phlebotomy, medication administration support, and vital signs measurement to assist in patient care delivery.
- Manage electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems), ensuring all patient data is accurate, complete, and up-to-date for seamless clinical workflows.
- Support hospital medicine, urgent care, dermatology, internal medicine, geriatrics, or emergency medicine departments with specialized triage tasks as needed.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in inpatient settings like Level I or Level II trauma centers or outpatient clinics to optimize patient outcomes.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Medical Assistant or in a similar clinical support role within hospital medicine, urgent care, or outpatient settings.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, pharmacology, and ICD coding standards.
- Hands-on experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR/EHR systems) and Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is required; additional certifications such as Phlebotomy or Medication Administration are preferred.
- Familiarity with hospital experience including Level I or Level II trauma centers or inpatient units like PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit) is advantageous.
- Excellent patient service skills with the ability to communicate effectively and compassionately under pressure.
- Knowledge of dermatology, emergency medicine protocols, geriatrics, medical-surgical practices, and internal medicine is highly desirable.
- Ability to work efficiently in high-volume environments while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
