Purpose:
The Food Service Manager is responsible for overseeing daily back-of-house operations, maintaining food quality and safety standards, managing kitchen staff, and ensuring smooth, efficient kitchen workflows.
Responsibilities:

Supervises all kitchen team members.

Schedules shifts and manages labor costs based on business needs.

Ensures consistent food quality and presentation according to company standards.

Maintains cleanliness and organization of the kitchen in compliance with health regulations; including but not limited to: proper hand hygiene, food handling protocols, and kitchen staff illness monitoring and reporting.

Monitors inventory levels and places orders for food, supplies, and equipment as needed.

Tracks food costs and minimizes waste to meet budget targets.

Implements and enforces food safety protocols (HACCP, ServSafe, etc.).

Hires, trains, and evaluates kitchen team members.

Collaborates with Hospice Team Director.
Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED
-
Must be at least 18 years of age
-
Proven experience as a Food Service Manager in the healthcare industry

Holds current Certified Food Protection Manager certification or must be completed within 6 months of hire (ServSafe or accredited program)

Culinary degree preferred

Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills

In-depth knowledge of kitchen operations, inventory control, and food safety standards

Basic written and verbal communication skills

Basic keyboarding and computer skills with ability to learn work related software

Must have a valid driver's license, auto liability insurance and reliable transportation if driving is required

Successful completion of pre-employment physical, drug screen, 2- step TB test and background check
Working Conditions:

Physical requirements: Medium work exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Environment: Hazards (chemicals, infectious diseases), Atmospheric conditions (fumes, odors, dust, mist, gases)

Time: Work hours based on patient-driven census model (availability on evenings, weekends, and holidays)

Travel: May require some travel
