Food Services Manager
Administrator/Supervisor/Manager Salary Scale
200 Day Contract
Qualifications:
1. Be of good moral character as evidenced by the absence of any criminal or unethical
convictions, or rehabilitation to the satisfaction of the Board of Education.
2. Three years experience in volume cooking in a restaurant, school or other establishments
is preferred.
3. Ability to assume responsibility and work cooperatively with others.
4. Ability to communicate, supervise and try new ideas in food management.
5. Ability to serve students in a courteous, helpful and friendly manner.
6. Possess a minimum of a high school diploma.
7. Possess the qualities of honesty, punctuality, cleanliness and initiative to perform the
required work.
Reports To:
Superintendent or designee.
Job Goals:
- To assume responsibility for food preparation.
- To assume the responsibility for the safety and sanitation of the school cafeteria/kitchen.
- To serve students well balanced, nutrition and appetizing meals.
- To organize and administer a centralized food service program in compliance with all
federal regulations and in a cost-effective manner to operate above a break-even basis.
Essential Performance Responsibilities:
1. Supervise and assist cooks in the preparation of food, serving hot meals, cleaning and
safety precautions.
2. Requisition and store food and non-food supplies in advance of need for menu planning.
3. Supervise and assist in the daily cleaning of all kitchen equipment, including the
sterilization of all silverware, dishes and utensils.
4. Supervise the preparation of the daily count of meals, milk and money for local and state
reports.
5. Assume responsibility that system wide cafeteria menus are followed and that food is
properly prepared.
6. Prepare reports directed by the Building Principal and/or Superintendent of Schools.
7. Attend meetings of cafeteria personnel.
8. Maintain security by developing procedures for locking doors to the storeroom, cooling
equipment and kitchen before leaving each day.
9. Accept telephone calls and messages made to the cafeteria; handle minor problems or
complaints.
10. Refer all major problems/concerns regarding personnel, supplies, repairs to the building
principal.
11. Assists and oversees all functions necessary to ensure the effective delivery of a school
nutrition program for multiple school districts, including the National School Lunch
