Job Summary
The Route Salesman / Warehouse Associate is responsible for supporting both warehouse operations and outside sales. This position delivers products to customers, develops new business, maintains relationships with existing accounts, and assists with daily warehouse functions including receiving, stocking, order fulfillment, and inventory management. The ideal candidate is dependable, customer-focused, and able to work efficiently in both a warehouse and field environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver wholesale orders to retail customers safely and on time.
- Visit existing customers to build relationships and generate repeat sales.
- Prospect and open new wholesale accounts within assigned territories.
- Present new products, promotions, and seasonal merchandise to customers.
- Collect payments and maintain accurate delivery and sales records.
- Load, unload, and organize inventory in the warehouse.
- Pick, pack, and prepare customer orders for delivery or shipment.
- Receive incoming shipments and verify quantities against purchase orders.
- Maintain accurate inventory and assist with cycle counts.
- Keep warehouse clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards.
- Assist with merchandising, product labeling, and warehouse organization.
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, or other warehouse equipment (if certified).
- Report inventory shortages, damaged merchandise, or customer concerns to management.
- Provide excellent customer service during deliveries and sales visits.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Previous warehouse, delivery, route sales, or customer service experience preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic computer and mobile device skills.
- Forklift certification is a plus (or willingness to obtain).
