Responsibilities
- Safely operate tractor-trailers with manual transmissions, ensuring compliance with all traffic laws and safety regulations
- Load and unload freight using appropriate equipment such as forklifts or roll-off trucks, ensuring cargo integrity and security
- Drive various types of trucks including flatbeds across assigned routes
- Secure loads properly on flatbeds or other specialized trailers to prevent shifting during transit
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to verify vehicle safety, including checking brakes, lights, tires, and load securement
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, route details, and delivery documentation in compliance with federal regulations
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers regarding route updates, delivery schedules, and any issues encountered during transit
Qualifications
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class A with endorsements for flatbed and tanker for operations preferred
- Proven experience operating manual transmission trucks in a commercial setting
- Demonstrated ability to load & unload freight efficiently using forklifts or other equipment
- Familiarity with various truck types including flatbeds
- Strong knowledge of safety protocols related to truck driving and cargo securement standards
- Excellent route driving skills with a focus on punctuality and customer service
- Ability to perform routine vehicle inspections and basic maintenance checks
