Position Description
The Department of English at Texas State University invites applicants for an Assistant Professor of Instruction at the Round Rock Campus. The successful applicant will teach courses including first-year writing, advanced undergraduate technical and/or professional writing, and/or sophomore literature surveys; assist with the Round Rock branch of the University Writing Center; and provide service to the department by being a member of at least two departmental committees. As a full-time faculty member, the Assistant Professor of Instruction will teach four courses per semester with a flexible schedule and benefits. All positions are subject to availability of funds.
Required Qualifications
- MA, MFA, or PhD in English or related field, in hand.
- Experience teaching first-year college writing.
- Willingness to participate in ongoing professional development as a teacher of technical and/or professional communication as required by the department.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a university writing center.
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching at the university level.
- Demonstrated innovation in teaching college writing and/or literature courses.
- Graduate-level coursework in rhetoric and composition, technical communication, and/or professional writing.
- Record of institutional, professional, and/or community service.
