Muraco Elementary School is seeking a .6 FTE Art Teacher for grades K-5.

All applicants must submit a recent portfolio of student work. A portfolio of personal art work is also appreciated and highly valued.
Qualified candidates should have the following, but not limited to:

Must hold a valid DESE Teacher Certification in state of MA

Ideally hold a Master's degree in Art Education plus 3 years experience
-
Must possess strong visual art content knowledge: Broad knowledge of and familiarity with historical and contemporary artists and period styles, the techniques and processes associated with drawing, painting, and three-dimensional studio materials including clay/ceramics, and a working knowledge of the elements and principles of art and design.

Must exhibit a passion for teaching, excellent interpersonal skills, and strong classroom management abilities.

Must have flexibility and a willingness to learn and try new things

Must demonstrate strong organizational skills, classroom/studio management, and the ability to collaborate.
Role and Responsibilities:
-
Provide and environment and opportunities for students to work and share collaboratively and to develop a strong sense of respect for self and others.

To help young students appreciate art and develop their own artistic expressions based on their understanding of the elements and principles of art and design.

Participate in the Visual Art curriculum review and design, and work cooperatively with a team to develop a strong school program incorporating both national, state and district frameworks.

Assess student performance/work and communicate feedback to students and families regularly through district-designated evaluation procedures and protocols.

Plan and present art displays and Department-organized exhibitions designed to share students’ work with the school and the community.

Align Content and instruction to the Massachusetts Arts Curriculum Frameworks and to district scope and sequences.

Abide by state statutes, school board policies, district handbook, and regulations.

Remain current by participating in ongoing professional development activities within and out-of-district, such as instructional technology.

All other duties assigned by the Department Director, Principal or WPS Administration.
Compensation Range: $63,787-$136,191 prorated at .6FTE and based on experience
