Part-Time Sports Photographer/Videographer

Sporting Kaw Valley is seeking a creative and dependable part-time photographer/videographer to capture high-quality photo and video content featuring our youth soccer players, teams, coaches, programs, and events.
This position will help tell the Sporting Kaw Valley story by highlighting the energy, development, accomplishments, and sense of community found throughout our club. Content will be used on SKV’s website and social media platforms, as well as in marketing materials, fundraising communications, and promotional campaigns.
The ideal candidate has a strong eye for sports action, candid moments, and visual storytelling and can work independently in a fast-paced youth sports environment.
Primary Responsibilities
- Capture high-quality photographs and video footage at SKV practices, games, tournaments, camps, and special events.
- Photograph players, teams, coaches, volunteers, families, facilities, and other aspects of the SKV experience.
- Produce a variety of content, including action shots, candid images, team photos, short-form videos, interviews, and behind-the-scenes footage.
- Create video content formatted for Instagram Reels, Facebook, and other digital platforms.
- Edit, organize, label, and deliver photos and videos to SKV staff within established timelines.
- Follow assigned shot lists while also recognizing and capturing meaningful, unscripted moments.
- Possible travel to SKV programs and events in Topeka or Manhattan.
- Represent Sporting Kaw Valley professionally when interacting with players, families, coaches, volunteers, and community partners.
- Follow all SKV policies regarding youth safety, privacy, and the approved use of photographs and video.
- Maintain and safely operate personal photography and video equipment.
- Assist with other content-related assignments as needed.
Qualifications
- Experience in sports, action, event, or youth photography and videography is preferred.
- Strong understanding of lighting, composition, movement, and visual storytelling.
- Ability to capture clear, engaging images and video in indoor and outdoor settings, including daytime and evening conditions.
- Experience editing photographs and short-form video content.
- Familiarity with social media content formats and current digital media practices.
- Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple assignments, and meet content-delivery deadlines.
- Professional demeanor and the ability to interact appropriately with children, families, coaches, and staff.
- Dependable transportation and the ability to travel among Lawrence, Topeka, and Manhattan.
- Knowledge of soccer is helpful but not required.
Equipment Requirements
Candidates must have access to their own professional or high-quality photography and video equipment, including equipment suitable for capturing sports action from a distance. Candidates must also have access to the software and technology necessary to edit, store, and deliver digital content.
Schedule and Availability
This is a flexible, part-time position based on Sporting Kaw Valley’s seasonal programming and event calendar. Most assignments will take place during weekday evenings, with occasional Saturday assignments. Weekly hours will vary depending on club needs.
