Duties
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Monitor patient health by observing vital signs, medication adherence, and overall condition; report changes to healthcare professionals
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to dietary needs and assist with feeding when necessary
- Support clients with medication administration following care plans and HIPAA privacy standards
- Use manual handling techniques and equipment such as Hoyer lifts to ensure safe transfers and mobility assistance
- Maintain a clean and safe environment through light housekeeping tasks like cleaning, laundry, and organizing living spaces
- Provide companionship and emotional support, fostering social engagement and mental stimulation
- Document care activities accurately in compliance with healthcare regulations and care plans
- Assist with transportation to medical appointments or community activities as needed
- Support clients with specialized needs such as dementia, Alzheimer's, autism, or developmental disabilities through tailored approaches
Experience
- Prior experience working in home health, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or group homes is highly preferred
- Demonstrated ability to observe patients carefully and monitor vital signs accurately
- Experience with medication administration, first aid, CPR certification, and manual handling techniques such as Hoyer lifts
- Knowledge of dementia care, memory care strategies, hospice care practices, and neurodevelopmental disorders support is advantageous
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations ensuring client privacy and confidentiality at all times
- Background in geriatrics or long-term care environments supporting senior citizens or individuals with disabilities is beneficial
- Strong communication skills for working effectively with clients, families, and healthcare teams
