Job Summary:
The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for supporting day-to-day manufacturing operations by ensuring production processes, equipment, tooling, and documentation are capable of safely and efficiently meeting customer demand. This role serves as the primary engineering resource for production, partnering closely with Operations to resolve manufacturing issues, maintain process stability, support new product introductions, and implement continuous improvements that enhance safety, quality, delivery, and cost performance.
Essential Functions & Tasks:
- Design, develop, implement, and continuously improve manufacturing processes that enhance safety, quality, productivity, and cost performance.
- Develop and maintain manufacturing work instructions, standard operating procedures, process documentation, and engineering specifications.
- Design, specify, validate, and maintain manufacturing tooling, fixtures, assembly equipment, test stands, and production workstations.
- Lead manufacturing process validation activities to ensure equipment, tooling, and processes consistently meet quality and production requirements.
- Support new product introductions by collaborating with Product Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Operations to ensure manufacturability and successful production launch.
- Analyze production performance using manufacturing metrics to identify opportunities for improved throughput, efficiency, quality, and cost reduction.
- Lead root cause investigations for manufacturing, equipment, and process-related issues and implement sustainable corrective and preventive actions.
- Evaluate production layouts and workflows to optimize material flow, ergonomics, safety, and operational efficiency.
- Identify, prioritize, and implement Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives using structured problem-solving methodologies.
- Develop production training materials and provide technical support to manufacturing personnel regarding processes, tooling, and equipment.
- Partner with Design Engineering to improve product manufacturability, reduce production complexity, and improve product quality.
- Perform technical risk assessments to support employee safety, regulatory compliance, and reliable manufacturing processes.
- Support prototype builds, pilot production, and production readiness activities through documentation development and technical support.
- Monitor manufacturing performance following implementation of process improvements and validate achievement of expected results.
- Support internal and external audits by maintaining accurate engineering documentation and process records.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- Minimum of 3 years of manufacturing engineering experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience developing and improving manufacturing processes, production methods, and work instructions.
- Experience supporting new product introduction (NPI) and manufacturing process validation.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, continuous improvement methodologies, and structured problem-solving techniques.
- Proficiency with 3D CAD software (SolidWorks preferred or equivalent).
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and manufacturing specifications.
- Experience designing or supporting manufacturing tooling, fixtures, and production equipment.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple departments.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
- Ability to identify opportunities for process improvement and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and respond effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy, execution, and follow-through.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a low-volume, high-mix manufacturing environment.
- Experience with Minitab, JMP, Power BI, or other engineering data analysis software.
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with welding, machining, sheet metal fabrication, laser cutting, or related manufacturing processes.
- Knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC), Process Capability (Cp/Cpk), PFMEA, and Control Plans.
- Experience with automation, robotics, or advanced manufacturing technologies.
- Project management experience supporting cross-functional manufacturing initiatives.
- Experience using business intelligence and reporting tools such as Microsoft Power BI.
- Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, or continuous improvement training or experience.

Experience supporting production, implementing process improvements, troubleshooting manufacturing issues, and launching new products into production is highly preferred.
Pay: $85,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year
