Overview of YOUR role as a Coating Inspector
As a Coating Inspector, you will provide critical support for field construction projects, ensuring safety, compliance, and quality control across pipeline and gas distribution operations. Working with a small team of inspectors, this role requires someone who is detail-oriented, proactive, and confident in making field-level decisions while monitoring contractor crews, verifying regulatory compliance, and ensuring proper coating application per client specifications.
As a Coating Inspector YOU will:
· Monitor contractor crews to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards
· Verify compliance with OSHA regulations and 49 CFR Part 192 requirements
· Participate in safety briefings and promote safety culture on job sites
· Inspect pipe coatings to ensure proper preparation and application per client specifications
· Review coating materials for compliance with project requirements
· Direct corrective actions when coating deficiencies or non-compliance issues are identified
· Maintain accurate daily documentation of field operations and inspections · Assess coating quality throughout the application process
· Ensure adherence to specifications and industry standards
· Document field operations and inspection findings
· Work collaboratively with a small team of inspectors
· Communicate effectively with contractor crews, supervisors, and client representatives
YOU are the ideal Coating Inspector candidate if you have:
· 5-10 years of experience in utility, pipeline, or related industries
· Experience with poly pipelines
· NACE CIP Level 1, 2, or 3 certification (as required by the client)
· Strong knowledge of OSHA and 49 CFR Part 192 compliance requirements
· Experience overseeing contractor crews and documenting field operations
· Ability to assess coating quality and ensure adherence to specifications
· Detail-oriented with strong attention to quality control
· Proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues
· Confidence in making field-level decisions
· Strong communication and documentation skills
· Ability to work collaboratively within a small team
· Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
It's a BONUS if you have:
· API 1169 certification
· Experience with natural gas distribution projects
· Advanced NACE certifications beyond CIP Level 1
· Experience with specific coating systems and technologies
Pay: $30.00 - $40.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 per week
