Job Overview
We are seeking a talented and detail-oriented Custom Picture Framer to join our creative team. Duties
- Measure and assess artwork or objects to determine optimal framing options that complement the piece’s style and purpose
- Select appropriate materials such as mats, glass, backing boards, and specialty finishes based on conservation needs and aesthetic preferences
- Ensure proper handling and conservation framing techniques to preserve artwork over time
- Communicate effectively with clients to understand their vision, provide expert advice on framing choices, and ensure satisfaction
- Maintain a clean, organized workspace while adhering to safety protocols during fabrication and installation processes
Skills
- Experience with museum-quality conservation framing techniques and materials
- Experience with mat cutting, glass cutting, canvas stretching
- Knowledge of art direction principles, color theory, typography, and visual design fundamentals
- Skilled with math, hand tools, power tools, and fabrication methods for custom frames
