Responsibilities
- Assist endodontists during complex root canal treatments and other specialty procedures by preparing and handling dental instruments, materials, and equipment with precision.
- Manage patient flow efficiently by greeting patients, updating medical histories, taking vital signs, and ensuring patient comfort throughout their visit.
- Operate dental imaging equipment including X-ray machines and 3D scanners to capture high-quality images necessary for accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Maintain strict adherence to infection prevention protocols, including sterilization procedures for dental instruments and aseptic techniques to ensure clinical safety.
- Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic for accurate medical documentation, coding, and updating patient records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Support dental team members by managing patient management software, scheduling appointments, and coordinating care across multiple locations.
- Uphold clinical confidentiality policies while providing compassionate patient care tailored to pediatric dentistry, oral surgery cases, or general dentistry needs.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a dental assistant with a strong background in endodontics or specialty dentistry preferred.
- Proficiency with EMR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic; experience with medical coding and medical records management is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of dental terminology, dental equipment operation, sterilization procedures, and infection control standards.
- Familiarity with pediatric dentistry practices and pediatric patient management is a plus.
- Ability to perform X-ray procedures accurately while maintaining safety standards for patients and staff.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with dental teams and provide outstanding patient care.
- Certification in dental assisting from an accredited program; additional certifications in infection prevention or radiography are advantageous.
