Responsibilities
- Receive and prioritize emergency calls, gathering essential information with precision and clarity to facilitate rapid response.
- Dispatch appropriate EMS units promptly, ensuring they are equipped with necessary details for effective patient care.
- Maintain calm and professional communication with callers, providing reassurance and vital instructions during high-stress situations.
- Coordinate with hospitals, fire departments, law enforcement, and other emergency services to ensure seamless multi-agency response efforts.
- Document all dispatch activities accurately, including incident details, response times, and resource allocation.
- Monitor radio communications and update responders on evolving situations or additional support needs.
- Support EMS teams by providing critical information related to patient condition assessments, trauma details, or special care requirements such as airway management or pediatric emergencies.
Experience
- Previous experience in critical care environments or hospital settings is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of emergency medical terminology, physiology, trauma medicine, and trauma care protocols.
- Experience with triage procedures, patient assessment techniques, vital signs monitoring, and incident command systems.
- Familiarity with medical equipment operation such as DME (Durable Medical Equipment), venipuncture tools, and airway management devices.
- Background in emergency medicine or urgent care settings, including ER experience or critical care transport experience.
- Understanding of neonatal resuscitation procedures, medication administration protocols, and aseptic techniques.
- Ability to handle high-pressure situations involving heavy lifting, driving emergency vehicles when necessary, and urgent patient care scenarios involving trauma or pediatric emergencies.
