Responsibilities
- Install, test, and commission fire alarm systems, including proprietary fire alarm control panels and sensors, ensuring full functionality and compliance with building codes.
- Conduct routine maintenance, inspections, and troubleshooting of fire alarm systems to ensure optimal performance and adherence to NFPA standards.
- Read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, CAD drawings, and engineering documents related to fire alarm system design and installation.
- Perform field service activities such as system upgrades, repairs, and modifications on low voltage electrical wiring and components.
- Collaborate with construction teams during new building projects to ensure fire alarm systems are integrated seamlessly with sprinkler systems and other safety features.
- Inspect buildings for code compliance by reviewing schematics, conducting site assessments, and verifying installation standards in accordance with fire codes and regulations.
- Provide excellent customer service by explaining system functions, addressing client concerns, and delivering professional support during system sales or service calls.
Skills
- Bilingual.
- Strong ability to read blueprints, schematics, electrical blueprints, and CAD drawings related to fire alarm systems.
- In-depth knowledge of fire alarm system design, installation procedures, maintenance practices, and NFPA standards.
- Mechanical aptitude combined with experience in fire sprinkler fitting and low voltage electrical work.
- Proficiency in using hand tools for wiring, mounting sensors, panels, and other system components.
- Familiarity with proprietary fire alarm control panels and sensors used in modern fire detection technology.
- Understanding of building code compliance requirements related to fire safety systems including NFPA 72 standards.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills for engineering issues involving electrical work or system malfunctions; ability to diagnose problems efficiently.
- Customer service orientation with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients.
- Experience working as a service technician or in fire alarm sales is highly desirable.
