Valley Village Assisted Living is seeking an experienced and compassionate Kitchen Manager to lead our dietary department. This position oversees kitchen operations, menu planning, food purchasing, budgeting, staff supervision, and regulatory compliance while ensuring residents receive nutritious, appealing meals in a warm and welcoming environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise, train, and schedule dietary staff.
- Foster a positive team environment and conduct regular staff meetings.
- Collaborate with the contracted dietitian and kitchen staff on menu planning.
- Ensure meals meet residents' dietary needs, including therapeutic and modified diets.
- Maintain compliance with health, safety, sanitation, and assisted living regulations.
- Manage food and supply ordering, inventory, vendor relationships, and departmental budgets.
- Ensure kitchen and dining areas remain clean, organized, and welcoming.
- Monitor resident satisfaction and communicate concerns or changes in resident status to appropriate staff.
Schedule
- This is a Full-Time, Exempt, Salaried Position of approximately 40 hours per week.
- Includes cooking on the 6 AM - 2 PM shift 3 days per week, including every other weekend.
Qualifications
- Passion for working with older adults while promoting dignity, independence, and choice.
- Strong culinary, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations.
- Ability to supervise staff and manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 30 pounds occasionally.
Education & Experience
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Experience in food service or cooking required.
- At least one year of supervisory or management experience required.
- Experience with special diets, including diabetic, low-sodium, and vegetarian diets preferred.
- Current First Aid certification required or willingness to obtain upon hire.
