Join our dynamic oil and gas field team as an Industrial Laborer and play a vital role in maintaining asset integrity from the ground up! In this high-energy role, you will support structural steel fabrication, apply protective coatings, and assist with quality inspections in high-hazard environments. Your dedication to precision and safety will help us prevent corrosion and deliver high-quality, compliant results on time. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to advance your technical skills in industrial oil and gas construction while contributing to critical infrastructure projects.
- Read Blueprints: Interpret structural steel drawings, piping isometric layouts, and coating specifications to support daily operations.
- Handle Materials: Lift, carry, and position heavy structural steel components, blasting media, and industrial coating equipment safely.
- Prepare Surfaces: Operate high-pressure abrasive blasting pots, grinders, and mechanical tools to clean steel joints to SSPC/NACE standards.
- Apply Coatings: Assist with mixing and applying industrial epoxies, polyurethane liners, and joint coatings using airless spray systems.
- Support Welders: Clean weld joints, grind bevels, clear slag, and set up rigging for structural steel fabrication.
- Conduct Inspections: Assist quality control tech crews by using wet/dry film thickness gauges and setting up holiday detection equipment.
- Maintain Equipment: Troubleshoot, clean, and repair blasting nozzles, spray pumps, and respiratory air systems to minimize project downtime.
- Work at Heights: Erect and climb scaffolding or ladders safely to access elevated piping systems and structural modules.
- Ensure Safety: Follow strict industrial OSHA regulations, hazardous material guidelines, lock-out/tag-out (LOTO) protocols, and confined space entry permits.
Experience
- Industrial Background: Prior experience in oil and gas facilities, refineries, midstream pipelines, or heavy fabrication shops is highly preferred.
- Technical Literacy: Familiarity with reading industrial blueprints, welding symbols, or NACE/AMPP coating specification sheets is a major plus.
- Blasting & Coating: Basic knowledge of abrasive blasting media, airless spray equipment, and surface preparation standards.
- Tool Proficiency: Experience operating heavy-duty power tools, pneumatic equipment, beveling tools, and mechanical grinders.
- HSE Compliance: Understanding of industrial safety regulations, including respiratory protection programs, fall protection, and gas monitoring.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to perform heavy manual labor safely while wearing heavy PPE, including blast suits and supplied-air respirators.
