BELEAF MEDICAL LLC
Human Resources Manager
Full-Time · Exempt · St. Charles, MO Corporate Office
$70,000–$80,000 + 10% Target Bonus · Employee Benefits paid at 100%
BeLeaf Medical is building the Human Resources department to scale with one of the state’s most successful cannabis companies—and this role is where a lot of that gets sparked. As Human Resources Manager, you'll own employee relations, separations, unemployment defense, and leave and accommodation across every BeLeaf Medical brand and location — with real authority to run cases, not just support someone else's.
This is a corporate-office role based at BeLeaf Medical's headquarters in St. Charles, MO, working directly with the Director of Human Resources to set the standard for how a fast-growing, multi-site workforce gets treated fairly and consistently.
Why You'll Love Working Here
-
Real ownership from day one — you'll run employee relations investigations, separations, and unemployment claims independently, not shadow someone else's process.
-
A genuine build role: help stand up a growing Human Resources function at a Missouri cannabis company scaling toward a $300 million revenue target by the end of 2028.
-
A defined path to more authority and scope — it expands as fast as your judgment earns it, not on a fixed timeline.
-
Competitive pay: $70,000–$80,000 base plus a 10% target, earned against clear, documented criteria.
-
Full benefits: medical, dental, and vision insurance with 100% of your employee premium covered by BeLeaf Medical.
-
401(k) retirement plan with a 50% company match on the first 4% you contribute, plus company-paid life and disability insurance.
-
15 days of Paid Time Off, 10 Paid Company Holidays, 3 Personal Days (that’s 28 total, if you’re counting) and a 40%employee discount at Swade Dispensaries.
About the Role
BeLeaf Medical LLC is a vertically integrated Missouri cannabis company operating cultivation, manufacturing, distribution, and retail under the Swade Dispensaries and Sinse Cannabis brands, with roughly 430 employees across the St. Louis, St. Charles, Kansas City, Warrensburg, and Rolla markets. About 90% of that workforce is hourly — which makes this role equal parts investigator and coach.
You'll report to the Director of Human Resources and work as a true partner across Retail (Swade), Cultivation and Manufacturing (Sinse), and Compliance — triaging employee relations matters, guiding managers through difficult conversations, and making sure every statutory and agency deadline the department carries gets met, on time, every time.
What You'll Do
Employee Relations & Investigations-
Receive, triage, and investigate employee relations matters across all locations and brands.
-
Conduct interviews and produce written investigation summaries and determinations that hold up under scrutiny.
-
Coach supervisors through people problems in a way that builds their capability, rather than solving it for them.
Separations, Corrective Action & Unemployment-
Review corrective action documentation for consistency, sufficiency, and defensibility before it's issued.
-
Develop separation strategy and documentation, and represent the company at unemployment appeal hearings.
Leave, Accommodation & Compliance-
Administer FMLA, short-term disability, and other leave programs from eligibility through return to work.
-
Manage the ADA interactive process and own the departmental compliance calendar for every agency deadline and filing obligation.
Hiring Panel & Manager Development-
Serve in rotation on the cross-functional interview panel and co-develop manager training on difficult conversations and corrective action.
What We're Looking For
-
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Industrial Relations, or a related field — or equivalent directly applicable experience.
-
5+ years of progressive HR experience, with hands-on ownership of employee relations matters at moderate to high complexity.
-
Direct experience conducting workplace investigations and producing findings that withstand outside scrutiny.
-
Working knowledge of FMLA, ADA, Title VII, FLSA, and Missouri employment law.
-
Comfortable operating in a multi-site environment across corporate, retail, and production locations.
-
SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification preferred.
-
Experience in cannabis, retail, hospitality, food and beverage, or another regulated or high-turnover industry is a plus.
-
Must be at least 21 years of age and able to obtain and maintain any Missouri cannabis agent ID or registration required for this role.
-
Must satisfy the background screening requirements applicable to the position.
Compensation & Benefits
-
Base salary: $70,000–$80,000, commensurate with experience.
-
Performance bonus: 10% target, earned against clearly defined criteria.
-
Medical, dental, and vision insurance — 100% of the employee premium paid by BeLeaf Medical.
-
401(k) retirement plan with a 50% company match on the first 4% you contribute.
-
Company-paid life and disability insurance.
-
40% discount at Swade Dispensaries, with a $25 monthly credit.
-
15 days of Paid Time Off (PTO) per year.
-
10 paid company holidays.
-
3 paid personal days
