Join the team that’s building Lincoln’s broadband future. We’re looking for a hands-on GIS Technician who loves both fieldwork and data accuracy. If you enjoy mapping real-world infrastructure, solving data puzzles, and improving workflows, this role is for you.
What You’ll Do
- Collect broadband asset data in the field using GPS/GNSS and mobile GIS tools.
- Edit and maintain GIS datasets for conduit, fiber, pull boxes, splice cases, and more.
- Perform QA/QC on field data, as-builts, and contractor submissions.
- Support broadband construction with redlines, ticket updates, and routine data intake.
- Spot opportunities to improve data standards and workflows.
- Collaborate with staff, contractors, and partner agencies.
What You Bring
- Knowledge of GIS basics and spatial data.
- Experience with ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online/Portal, and Field Maps.
- Ability to read as-builts, construction drawings, and utility layouts.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to resolve data discrepancies.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to work independently and safely.
Preferred Background
- Coursework or experience in GIS, geography, surveying, drafting, or related fields.
- Hands-on experience with GPS/GNSS and mobile data collection.
- Familiarity with telecom, fiber, or underground utility plans.
- Experience with QA/QC or asset data workflows.
Minimum Qualifications
Associates degree in geographic information systems, computer science, engineering, geography or related field and two years of experience working with computer software, hardware and operations systems related to geographic information systems; or any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the desirable knowledge, abilities and skills.
Necessary Special Requirements
Certificate in Geographic Information Systems or equivalent.
