Applied Behavior Services (ABS) is seeking a passionate and dedicated Special Education Teacher to join our growing school program at our St. Peters MO campus.
Our specialized educational program serves students with autism and other developmental disabilities in a highly supportive environment where teachers work alongside BCBAs, Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs), SLPs, OTs, administrators, and families to help students achieve meaningful academic, behavioral, communication, and social growth. Position Summary
The Special Education Teacher provides individualized instruction and educational programming for students with autism and other developmental disabilities. The teacher is responsible for implementing academic instruction aligned with Missouri Learning Standards and student IEPs while collaborating with clinical and educational team members to support student progress across all domains.
Essential Responsibilities
- Develop and implement individualized lesson plans aligned with Missouri Learning Standards and student IEP goals
- Provide direct instruction in academic, communication, social, adaptive, and functional skill areas
- Create a structured, engaging classroom environment that promotes learning, independence, and positive behavior
- Collaborate with BCBAs, therapists, families, and partner school districts to support student success
- Supervise and support paraprofessionals and Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs)
- Implement behavior intervention plans and evidence-based instructional practices
- Monitor student progress through ongoing assessment and data collection
- Maintain required educational records and documentation
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to educational planning
- Communicate regularly with families and educational team members regarding student progress
- Support students in developing independence, self-regulation, communication, and social skills
Qualifications
- Missouri Special Education Certification (Cross-Categorical K–12 or equivalent)
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field
- Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills
- Experience working with students with autism and developmental disabilities
Preferred
- Knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)
- Experience implementing behavior support plans
- Experience collaborating within multidisciplinary teams
Schedule
- Full-time 40 hour position
- Monday–Friday
- Teacher hours in the building: 8:30 a.m.–3:30 p.m.
- Student hours: 9:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m.
- Year-round school calendar with scheduled breaks
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary starts at $55,000 and is commensurate with experience and qualifications
