Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Medical Assistant to support a busy Nephrology practice. The ideal candidate will provide both clinical and administrative assistance while delivering exceptional patient care in a fast-paced outpatient setting. Candidates should be comfortable performing patient intake, obtaining vital signs, assisting providers with examinations, and performing phlebotomy.
Responsibilities
- Welcome and prepare patients for examinations and procedures.
- Obtain and document vital signs, medical histories, and patient information.
- Perform phlebotomy and specimen collection following established protocols.
- Assist providers with examinations, treatments, and minor procedures.
- Accurately document patient encounters using the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
- Schedule appointments, coordinate patient follow-ups, and maintain accurate medical records.
- Prepare examination rooms and ensure supplies and equipment are properly stocked.
- Educate patients on treatment plans, medications, and follow-up care as directed.
- Maintain infection control standards and ensure patient confidentiality.
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide quality patient care.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
- Minimum 2 years of Medical Assistant experience in an outpatient or clinic setting.
- Proficiency in obtaining vital signs and performing phlebotomy.
- Experience using Epic EMR.
- Strong communication, organizational, and multitasking skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environment.
