Physics Teacher
Reports To: Vice Principal of Academics/Department Chair Job Status: 10-month, full-time, exempt
Salary Information: Salary will be based upon compensation guidelines; with a range of $58,916 – $87,651. This
position is eligible for benefits (medical, dental, vision), generous PTO and holiday schedule, 401(k) savings plan
with school match, higher education tuition reimbursement, and JSerra tuition discount of 50% off base tuition for
each dependent child or legal guardian designated child who attends JSerra.

Description: Seeking a dynamic and dedicated Physic Teacher who is responsible for fostering a deep
understanding of the physical laws of the universe. The while actively supporting the integral formation of
students’ faith, intellect, and character. The role involves planning and delivering high-quality, algebra and/or
calculus-based physics curricula, design engaging laboratory experiments, and guiding students through
critical thinking problem-solving processes. The ideal candidate inspires scientific curiosity and connects
theoretical concepts to real-world engineering and technological applications. Qualified candidates would teach
courses at the college preparatory and/or AP level. An interest in teaching college preparatory astronomy or
college preparatory chemistry is also desirable.
Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons aligned with departmental curriculum goals
- Assess, record, and maintain student progress through the school’s online grading platform, Schoology
- Develop curriculum, teaching materials, and assessment strategies with fellow educators through PLC
(professional learning community) meetings that are aligned with departmental curriculum goals
- Maintain a safe, respectful, and collaborative classroom and laboratory environment conducive to scientific
inquiry and character development.
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school training opportunities
- Supervise students outside the classroom as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong interpersonal skills, including writing, speaking, and presenting
- Familiarity with laboratory safety and the use of modern scientific equipment
- Ability to design and implement laboratory experiences that reinforce concepts
- Familiarity with instructional technology and data logger software (such as Vernier or Pasco)
